About the Role

An opportunity has arisen to join the team here at Matalan as a Retail Projects Manager. As a Project manager you will support the Retail team in its delivery of companywide projects, ensuring that they are easy and efficient, store friendly and delivered with the customer in mind.

You will manage the projects in line with the business project governance  and Retail strategic plan, planning, managing and completing retail specific initiatives whilst driving and leading cross functional working parties to ensure that any business wide initiatives are store friendly in their thinking.

  • Ensure each project has considered the implications to the customer journey and linking to Retail Strategic Projects
  • Effective management and development of the projects and productivity team.
  • Support stakeholders to plan and maintain their projects. Provide leadership and expertise throughout the project duration.
  • Be the gatekeeper for all large and small initiatives relating to the retail department.
  • Delivery projects on time, to budget and to the specified scope.
  • Work with stakeholders to define scope, scale, goals and deliverables, gaining buy in to identified projects and timelines from all business stakeholders
  • Establish and execute communication plans and reporting mechanisms to measure project success metrics.
  • Creates, maintains and communicates full project plans and schedules that include activities (including business change management) across all functional areas
  • Manage development, testing, training and deployment activities for projects, ensuring that all implementation activities are completed to provide a sustainable foundation for post-launch support and maintenance. “Development” will include process & organisation design and systems development as appropriate to each project
  • Manage project risks, issues, change requests and escalation activities.
  • Determine resource requirements and key skills for projects allocating responsibilities accordingly and ensure that planning includes the ability for projects to be integrated, supported and sustained successfully within the organisation.

  • Significant experience in the delivery of business change
  • High degree of self-awareness necessary for delivering business change programmes
  • Proven ability to influence all levels of the organisation and influences successfully without authority
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commercial thinker
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Driven and self motivated
