About the Role

As one of the most senior positions in a large marketing department, the role of Senior Brand Manager is a great opportunity for the right person to lead our marcomms strategy, developing winning marketing plans whilst managing a large budget, an internal team, media owners, partners and agencies.

You will translate business and trading objectives into a brand-enhancing, customer-facing marcomms strategy that brings the brand to life, overseeing national and regional advertising and ensuring that the areas work together with all other marketing channels to amplify and deliver this strategy and achieve the business’ commercial targets.

  • Drive business engagement in the Matalan marcomms strategy by setting and communicating a clear vision with an emphasis on commerciality.
  • Be seen as a brand ambassador by demonstrating high levels of energy, enthusiasm and confidence in the strategy.
  • Creation and ownership of a marcomms strategy which has the customer at its heart through use of customer research and understanding. It should drive omni-channel acquisition, retention and value growth, whilst supporting the brand and product agenda
  • Ensure internal customers have the right tools they need to deliver and amplify the strategy.
  • Work with the Head of Customer Insight and CRM to constantly evaluate the commercial impact of the marcomms strategy communicating successes and learnings with the business and team and ensuring that they are taken into future planning.
  • Conduct constant competitor analysis and identification of opportunities to drive the business and brand agenda.
  • Work with the Senior Creative Manager to ensure that the key brand messages and strategic objectives are communicated via the creative execution.
  • Overall accountability for the National and Regional Advertising Budgets, teams and agencies.
  • Lead the integration of external agency and supplier relationships, maximising productivity and encouraging ‘bigger picture’ thinking.
  • Management of our TV strategy overseeing the end to end process ensuring that the strategy is delivered whilst constantly looking for ways to improve and grow this.
  • Management of the brand ambassador and partnership strategy building strong relationships whilst ensuring maximum value is extracted from all parties.

About You

  • Significant experience in ATL marketing roles including strong TV experience.
  • Proven leadership of agencies, partners and a team.
  • Proven large budget management.
  • Experience in the fashion retail industry.
  • Proven development and delivery of successful marcomms strategies.
  • Experience of using commercial (including econometric) insight to drive strategic decisions.
