About the Role

We’ve a new opportunity to join our Sourcing team as a Packaging Assistant on a fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave. This role is are responsible for managing the development of Fashion and Home Packaging, working closely with the Creative Packaging Team, nominated print partners and Buying Teams to ensure business packaging requirements are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Work with the Packaging Buyer to ensure Packaging is fit for purpose using the most cost effective methods, negotiating costs with nominated Print Partners, tracking volumes and stock levels and identifying key opportunities to deliver cost savings to benefit the business.
  • Responsible for the end to end sampling and costing process, working with the Packaging Administrator to communicate sample approvals/rejections to nominated print partners and suppliers and managing day to day issues to maintain the agreed KPI’s and service agreement
  • Work with the Creative Packaging team to manage and support on ticket, label and product packaging development across Fashion and Home from artwork approval to system setup.
  • Own the Matalan Packaging Guidelines to ensure they are the best in class, working closely with Creative Packaging Team to ensure they are fully up to date and readily available for Matalan suppliers
  • Liaise with nominated print partners, reviewing and managing stocks, open orders and ongoing developments
  • Deal with daily queries from garment suppliers in conjunction with nominated printers to ensure delivery dates and turnaround times are met to achieve on time garment delivery in line with business critical paths.

About You

  • Previous experience in an administration role, ideally within Retail
  • Retail Packaging/Print experience is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to manage  workload effectively to tight deadlines
  • Outstanding work management and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills for high volume email and telephone correspondence
